Fort Road Hotel, Margate
Fort Road Hotel, in the old town of Margate opposite Turner Contemporary, was bought and refurbished in 2022 by Frieze co-founder Matthew Slotover, developer Gabriel Chipperfield and artist Tom Gidley. I consulted on the kitchen layout, crockery and menu inspiration. The idea was to draw upon the great British female food writers and cooks of the 19th and 20th century such as Elizabeth David, Eliza Acton and Jane Grigson, celebrating their refreshing no-nonsense approach to good food and cooking.
Gioconda invited Daisy Cecil to run the kitchen at Fort Road Hotel with this inspiration in mind. Her passion and understanding of contemporary food and work at the River Café brought a fresh and modern outlook to some of the old British classics.

El Fort Road Hotel, ubicado en el casco antiguo de Margate, frente a Turner Contemporary, fue adquirido y renovado en 2022 por Matthew Slotover, cofundador de Frieze, el desarrollador Gabriel Chipperfield y el artista Tom Gidley. Participé como consultora en el diseño de la cocina, la selección de la vajilla y la inspiración del menú.
La idea era rendir homenaje a las grandes escritoras y cocineras británicas del siglo XIX y XX, como Elizabeth David, Eliza Acton y Jane Grigson, celebrando su enfoque fresco y directo hacia la buena comida y la cocina.
Gioconda invitó a Daisy Cecil a dirigir la cocina del Fort Road Hotel con esta inspiración en mente. Su pasión, su comprensión de la cocina contemporánea y su experiencia en el River Café aportaron una visión fresca y moderna a algunos de los clásicos británicos.
